What is SPIRIT?

This is about Spirit, and the Personal Power, and Spiritual Power available in the everyday life of a Human Being, but is not about religion or institutionalized religious faith.

As soon as I mention words like "SPIRIT" or "SPIRITUAL" things sometimes get messy.  This page will explain what I mean by SPIRIT.

SPIRIT is that component of self that is created by forces other than biology, reason or logic (logos).

Your Spirit KNOWS things when the facts don't say so.  Your Spirit desires things that defy reason.  Your Spirit can will something to happen (creation).  Your spirit can will something to happen that is against all odds (miracles).  It is not created by you, but is FED by your thoughts, actions, and choices.  If your thoughts have created a sullen spirit, you may feed it so that it grows by continuing to think negatively, interpret surroundings negatively.  If you change your mind, you can change your inner world.  When you change your inner world, you change your outer world.  When you change your outer world, the universe and other spirits respond by changing too.  This is the power of spirit.

SPIRITUAL means that which pertains to the SPIRIT.
Feeling or expressing love or passion of any kind, calling out to a supreme being to influence the outcome of any event, wishing good for another, Hoping, dreaming, willing things to happen a certain way, desiring something for reasons other than reason, cheering a friend in a worthy endeavor, inspiring your work team, group, or organization to higher levels of performance, bringing a powerful peace to a situation of conflict, visualizing outcomes and then manifesting them... these are each examples of everyday spiritual acts.
SPIRITUAL PRACTICES:

Seeing the good in all things, practicing the presence of the divine, willing yourself to seek opportunity in the presence of conflict, changing the world by changing your mind, Prayer, resting the mind by emptying it, entering or creating your own guided visualization, meditating upon the beauty of nature, wondering at the creation of life, emptying self of ego to allow higher self to rule, seeking highest and best outcome in conflicts, adopting win/win positions, mindfulness, creating peace in the storm, holding a wish in your heart for a miraculous healing,  meditating upon a burning candle while seeking for good to overcome evil just as light overcomes darkness, contemplating the timelessness of a mountain, observing the grand ballet that is a forest, enjoying the wonderful theater that is the drama of nature, putting up a prayer board or dreams board of things you want to manifest into your life...  harboring a joy or resentment (yes you may accidentally or purposefully practice a negative spirituality and harbor resentments if you like).
When I speak of spiritual matters, I don't mean matters of church, faith, or religion.

When I say SPIRIT in this sense, alone, without modifiers, I do NOT mean GREAT SPIRIT or SUPREME BEING, or GOD, but the conversation inevitably turns in that direction.  Generally, there develops a challenge that is cast in my direction by someone less aware of their own divinity to fit some mold or another that they have found comforting or palatable, or "safe".

I sum up my theology in the expression, "My God ~ Your God ~ Our God"  This is not to say that I believe all Gods are one God.  It's more profound than that.  I propose that all Human Beings recognize in their spirit the undeniable truth of an intelligent power beyond their personal control.  This power is ONE POWER though you and I may have different names for He/She/It.

CREATOR, GOD, GREAT SPIRIT, UNIVERSE, and all other similar expressions, when used, mean for me and in my work, a personal, intelligent force beyond our understanding, that was not created by our mind or superstition, but who is the author of and power behind all CREATION and works to bring good out of all things.

  • I believe this intelligent force exists, beyond our control or understanding and:
  • If there was a BIG BANG, this intelligent force willed it.
  • All CREATED things were created by He, She or it - at first edition.
  • Notice that I am leaving room for natural selection when I say "created all things at first edition".  Natural Selection based on Survival of the Fittest makes perfect sense to me.
  • If man evolved from a less sophisticated form to a more sophisticated form, this intelligent force was part of that development.
  • Controls all things that do not have free will
  • Works to bring good out of all events
  • Works to redeem all choices made by beings with free will, no matter the intent, by using every event and outcome as the CREATION MOMENT for something having more good than the evil that may have first seemed apparent.
  • Allows us to enjoy and learn from the exercise of our free will - by which are many other things created or twisted into something they were not at first)

WHAT ABOUT FAITH?

I work with the FACTS of the human spirit and no faith is required.  There are many theologies and religions, but only one set of powers, or source of power, that is divine.  The common threads of this can be explored and empowered through many cultural or traditional approaches, until the divinity inside you becomes aware of the 'dream' that you were born to live and manifests this as your reality.

The challenge is that most of us tend to have those components of the Spirit broken along the way by otherwise well meaning parents, teachers, schools, workplace dynamics, "movements" in fields of psychology and faith, Religion and even Christianity.  My work is not about religion, or even about Christianity, although I have been tremendously shaped by having come to where I am by a road that includes a deep immersion into what is called the Christian Church.

JUST SAY IT:  ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN?

I believe Christ came from God.  They both created everything.  Jesus came to model and teach a better way - and to save us from any eternal condemnation that might come our way if we turned out less than perfect.  HOWEVER, I cannot call myself a Christian if that refers to what "Christian" has come to mean in today's world of hollywood style churches, power seeking ministries, or politicized faith movements that are supposed to vote their values and be critical of people who are not like them.

THEN WHAT?

I am a SPIRITUAL BEING having a HUMAN EXPERIENCE while becoming DIVINE.  I am most informed by the teachings and examples of the Christ of the Bible, and I imagine it fair to call me a follower of Christ.  But I am not pushing this on you.   If you ask me, I can share more about why I claim Christ as the source of my Divinity.

For entire moments, or even days at a time, I may claim to be "Divine" or "a Christ" - or "a god" (demi-god in part and also part of THE GOD or THE GREAT SPIRIT).  When others claim Nirvana or to become Buddha, I respect this same sense expressed according to their tradition.  I inevitably also express some of the wonderful drives and instincts of my human nature, and some of the seemingly less wonderful.  Some would say I have moments that are absolutely not Divine.  If I want my compact with God to be respected by you, then I cannot argue about yours, nor about how you interpret me.  Free Will Reigns - We don't have to agree - My God ~ Your God ~ Our God....   : )

PLEASE HOLD THE CRITICISM!

I did not say I am THE GOD, though I fully argue that I participate in that BEing too.  I am a student of the Holy Bible, and many other holiness or sacred teachings, which I will collectively refer to as HOLY BLUEPRINTS.  I am personally a follower of the teachings of Christ, and am elevated to my own godhood by his teachings.  Jesus said we are no longer servants, but brothers - joint heirs in the kingdom.  I did not seek to be his equal but he made it so.  The brother of a God is a God, no?  Can there be anything simpler to understand?  If you would want to doubt this, and come from a tradition where my claim seems too much, then please note that Paul said,  "I no longer live but Christ lives in me."  The Bible itself says, "Do you not know that you are gods?"  Look it up!  Other great masters of spirit have taught similarly, and I could go on, but I am saving all that for another teaching opportunity.

What I have to share is not just for Christians, nor is it about Christianity.

Throughout my work I will refer to those who are coming to their own godhood via ANY systematic religion as THE FAITHFUL.  And I will refer to the power bliinded - or misguided leaders of ANY systematic religion as The RELIGION-PUSHERS.  Finally, I will refer to the naive but earnestly growing and developing members of the Priesthood of ANY systematic religion - the ones who may yet arrive at their own godhood, as the CANDIDATE-HOPEFUL.

THE FAITHFUL may be the closest to realizing their uncreated potential.  Or they may be so stigmatized and blinded by the generations of explanations and rationalizations that they are the furtherest away.  Funny how that works.

The RELIGION-PUSHERS mostly know that it is a power and ego game, and they mostly want to be on top - just to be on top.  They will fight to stay there, and they may fight with a fairly advanced spirit power.  There is no greater truth than the one that says power is power - it's what you do with it that makes it good or evil.

The CANDIDATE-HOPEFUL may or may not be close to getting it - BUT THEY WILL.  Their spirits are pure.  The ego is not driving.  The motivation is not money or power or fame.  They hear a call to serve their fellow man in his or her growth toward the light.  They will arrive.  I hope to meet a great many of you through this work!

For my own theology, I suggest that GOD IS.  I believe there is a CREATOR, a mastermind being desiring nothing but good.  AND I believe THE CREATOR is beyond understanding.  I believe it is an error to attempt it.  He won't fit within our heads.  He is too big.

We can do well to observe THE CREATOR and enjoy THE CREATOR.  The existence of such a BEing is evident in both the order of things, and in the obvious miraculous.

It has been said that the ideal that our physical and material world coming into being as a result of millions of years of random events is about as likely as a Swiss Watch coming into being as a result of an explosion in a watch factory.  We may well have begun with a Big Bang, and there might have been some Primordial Soup.  A bolt of lighting may have triggered something, just a gamma ray can trigger a mutation today.  But there are no accidents that have ever created something without there BEing a CREATOR.  Things happen that make no sense, cannot be explained away by logic nor any 'sensibility' other than Spirit. These things are measurable, demonstrable.  X-rays have been taken.  Photos exist.  People KNOW that this is true.  Even scientists in disciplines that once ridiculed the idea of a CREATOR have now progressed until they have exhausted the explanations offered for their disciplines.  In many of the most advanced fields of science, the high priests of logic are now speaking about a CREATOR, an intelligent force, a POWER that is not explainable but just is.

You may demand that I PROVE IT.  I submit that I just have.  Anything else takes more faith IN SCIENCE than the amount of faith needed to believe in a CREATOR. More than this is hard to say in only a few words.  This is why there are so many words, so many books, purporting to explain God.  There is also a villian.  The spirit is one spirit, and there really is but one set of Spirit Powers.  These can serve the Light or they can serve the Dark Side of human experience.  There is A Devil or Great Satan.  This EVIL ONE was created by the CREATOR for another purpose, but he got lost along the way when fame and power went to his head.  He fell victim to his own ego drive and desire for fame.  The CREATOR allows him to exist out of mercy - for him individually - and for us - the human race collectively.  It is true that many are led astray and become servants of EVIL.  This same EVIL ONE is allowed to exist, and even to teach spirit power to others with broken intent, for a simple reason.  The visibility of naked evil in our world actually drives more seeking spirits TOWARD the CREATOR than the ones it lures into powerful practice of evil.

As you know, many atheists, agnostics, and skeptics have said that there is no God.  They say man has created God in his own image, to explain what man does not understand.  Further they say that we have subconsciously endowed THE CREATOR with magic powers so that we can relieve our fears and maintain illusions about safety, fairness, or some other silly ideal.  You may guess that I disagree - but my work is not to fight these misguided.  I am not here as a warrior, but as a mage, a spirit teacher, a healer.   Finally, it has been said that the power hungry and controlling spirits have used what they present as a higher understanding of God to maintain political or economic control.  They "explain" God to the masses and demand a conformity of belief and action, as well as a financial support, that keeps men and women from becoming what they were born to be.  Jesus said that their lives are like dead men's tombs - they look good on the outside but inside they are full of dead men's bones.  Yes.

My position is that GOD or the CREATOR does not need to be explained.  Our minds are not capable of apprehending, and therefore, nobody can explain THE CREATOR.  We are each like blind men, who upon meeting an elephant, promptly end up arguing over whether the beast is like a rope, a snake, a tree, or a wall.  If you have gotten ahold of God's tail, he may seem like a rope.  If you have managed to grab him by the trunk, you may argue that he is like a snake.  Perhaps you have found one of God's legs - and he seems quite like a tree.  Or maybe you have walked into an impenetrable aspect of God, from the side, and he seems quite like a wall.  It really matters not - unless you become a RELIGION PUSHER and try to force your understanding of God onto others.  This road generally does not end well and I hope for you that you either avoid it or get off of the misguided way.

What we need to understand, explain, and tap into so as to change the world is NOT THE CREATOR.  He has his agenda, his work, which we cannot truly fathom.  In one season he wishes to feed and provide drink for his children.  In other seasons he wishes the opposite, to instruct them or allow development assisted by desert experiences, famines, even slavery.  He may permit, allow, or create slavery to kingdoms or substances or persons of evil intent.  Divinig right from wrong, and explaining God is beyond my scope of work.  And yet, just as Christ did, or others who also taught spiritual truth, I must trust my own Divinity.  That power helps me transcend my human ideas of control, boundary, limitation, or social propriety - in order to accomplish miracles.  And so I do.

I will not explain GOD in my work, but I will reveal the power of the Human SPIRIT.  This power is given by our CREATOR - but few have learned to master and use it.  I acknowledge that THE CREATOR is the architect of this faculty, this power available to the human Spirit.  I depend on THE CREATOR to continue to function for good.  (This means I depend on Him to continue to do good, and it also means I depend on him to help me function for good as well)   But I do not teach religion.

My work is to help you develop Personal Power, Spirit Power by helping you become the spirit you were created to be.  The Secret To Living Out Our Own Divinity comes from this.

In the highest and best use of the words, I intend for you to develop spiritual power.  This is because I AM and YOU ARE.  My God + Your God = Our God.  Though there are many names for the Great Spirit, I submit that there is only one by whom all things were CREATED.

If the Kingdom is "within", then we must work within in order to change the "without"  ; )

It is our birthright, our holy calling, to serve one another and help each other, even heal each other - along the way.
